2008 Training Programme HCS offers practical, interactive training courses specifically tailored to the individual needs of today's fundraisers and charity managers. Courses are open to anyone involved in the voluntary sector - paid staff, volunteers, trustees as well as those working in the statutory/commercial sectors but with an interest in the voluntary sector. Due to other work commitments it has not been possible for Ruth to run any external training courses during the first half of 2008. Watch this space to see if dates in autumn 2008 become available. It also includes essential information on how to write a convincing project funding application. Managing Your Workload More Effectively    Course Content This course considers the various ways in which a fundraiser or charity manager can take more effective control of their time and juggle their work commitments. The course includes not only time management issues but also how these link to assertiveness at work and coping with work-related stress. Course Times The course starts at 9.30am with arrivals and coffee, with the first session beginning at 10.00am. The course finishes at 4.30pm. Refreshments and a buffet lunch are included in the cost. Key Features of HCS Courses Each course is limited to 8 places to ensure ample opportunity for personal attention Practical real-life exercises and case studies enable participants to apply the course theory to their own work situation The interactive nature of the courses allow time for discussion and the sharing of ideas and experiences with other participants Information obtained via pre-course questionnaires ensure the specific needs of participants are addressed in the course content The course fee covers refreshments, buffet lunch, course attendance certificate, course handbooks including a further reading list and useful contact names and addresses A friendly, relaxed learning environment at venues easily accessible by public transport Course Fees for 2008 There is a two tiered fee system: £130 - concessionary rate for charities with a turnover of less than £60,000 £175 - other charities and commercial/statutory organisations Course Bookings You can make a provisional booking by: Email: bookings@hcsuk.com. Course Venue London NCVO Conference Suite, Regent's Wharf, 8 All Saints Street, London N1 9RL. Less than ten minutes walk from Kings Cross railway station. Booking Terms and Conditions Provisional bookings will not be guaranteed until payment is received, at which time they become a confirmed booking. Pre-course questionnaires will be sent to participants prior to the course to obtain details of any particular issues that participants would like to see included in the course content. Final instructions eg course programme, venue map etc will be mailed to participants no later than one week before the date of the course. Written cancellation of a confirmed booking will be accepted up to 10 working days before the date of the course. A refund will be given, subject to a 25% cancellation fee. Refunds are not available if written cancellation is less than 10 working days before the date of the course or for non-attendance. Cancellations will only be accepted in writing. Substitutions can be made provided notice of this change is given before the event. Evaluation forms will be given to each participant for completion at the end of the course. Feedback is valued so that each course can be made as relevant as possible to future participants. HCS reserves the right to cancel a course in which case full refunds will be given.
